Propulsion and Manoeuvrability Solutions from Jastram Germany!
- JASTRAM TRANSVERSE THRUSTERS
-
When installed in the bow or stern of a ship they produce generous sideward thrust at low ship speed. Transverse bow thrusters are a great aid in docking, leaving port or during general low speed maneuvers.

JASTRAM RUDDER PROPELLERS
-
A unique combination steering and propulsion system. They are generally installed in commercial crafts such as barges, floating cranes, pontoons and other vessels that lack a separate engine room.

JASTRAM APS THRUSTERS
-
A fully 360 degree rotational water jet thruster. APS thrusters act as a maneuvering aid or as main steering and propulsion on commercial craft operating in shallow water.

JASTRAM T-RUDDERS
-
Optimum high efficiency rudders combine the advantages of both rotary and flap rudder designs in one package. T-rudders provide the highest possible maneuverability at low ship speed.
The effect of the T-Rudder design is comparable to the effect of a stern thruster combined with a bow-thruster, making difficult transverse maneuvers possible.

JASTRAM ROTOR RUDDERS
-
A high efficiency rudder design with a rotor built into the leading edge of the rudder. This design avoids flow separation on the suction side of the rudder when turning. Rotary rudders work at up to 65 degrees of rudder angle, far more than the typical steering system which is normally effective at only 35 - 45 degrees.
Best results are achieved at very low ship speed, at higher speed the rotor is switched off and the rudder is operated normally.

JASTRAM FLAP RUDDERS
-
Flap rudders are hydraulically linked, high efficiency rudders designed with a flap on the trailing edge of the rudder blade to increase the pressure side effect. This design provides enhanced steering control at low and medium speeds. Flap rudders can also be used to hold a course during free running.
