JASTRAM 2004 - CURRENT DIRECTORY

Jastram marine hydraulic steering gears are specifically designed and manufactured for use in various type of vessels.  There are three distinct models; each provides a Jastram solution to meet specific requirements.

more examples of Model-S steel hydraulic steering cylinders

Model S - these are steel cylinders suitable through the range of small to large commercial applications.  ABS TYPE APPROVED.  Features include:

  • micro-honed heavy wall cylinder barrel
  • precision ground, chrome-plated piston rod
  • oversize piston and piston rod bearings
  • piston rod wiper
  • tie-rod construction
  • self-aligning spherical bearings
  • SAE straight thread outlet ports

Model S cylinders are supplied complete with the tail mounting pad and pin.  This pin is surface-hardened and ground to ensure a precision fit and long service life.

Jastram model S steering gears are supplied with either two or four model S cylinders and can be used with single, twin and multiple rudders see also Independent Steering Systems.  Model S tillers, supplied according to the rudder configuration, have a solid hub with a 1:12 taper bore and include hardened and ground pins.  These steel tillers are designed to meet classification society standards as required.

Model-B brass marine hydraulic steering cylinder

Model B - these are brass cylinders suitable for small to medium size boats in either recreational or commercial operation.  ABS type approved & CE certified

Self-aligning spherical trunnion and clevis bearings eliminate exacting installation requirements and cylinder port bleed fittings reduce the time required to fill the system with oil. All seals are low friction types and the piston rod seals operate on a precision ground chrome-plated rod surface. To ensure rod seal performance, clean system oil and a clean sealing surface, Jastram cylinders include piston rod wipers.

We can also supply cast tiller arms to meet classification approval requirements.

Jastram model B steering cylinders are built for rugged service and offer long, dependable performance in all operating conditions.

Model K - Rapson slide actuator

Model K - these actuators feature the Rapson Slide mechanism and are used on small to medium size commercial vessels. They are compact and easy to install.

The Jastram Model K actuator is rugged, reliable and designed for heavy duty marine steering in modern vessels. It features a totally enclosed Rapson slide encased in a grease-filled housing and driven by a double-acting ram. This mechanism produces fast rudder movement through midships and maximum torque at the hardover positions. Features include:

  • Complete ram bearing and seal assemble can be replaced in the field
  • Unique ram bearing material gives long service life with minimum wear on the piston surfaces Heavier internal components ensure that all models qualify for classification approval
  • Installation is simple and inexpensive
  • Outlet ports are SAE straight thread
  • The entire unit mounts directly on the rudder stock

Jastram Steering Systems offer high quality, precision components carefully matched by design to ensure long service life and exceptional performance in all operating conditions. We manufacture a full product range and offer one source responsibility for your steering system.
